-What does it mean to be human?
I think being human means having your own unique flaws. Perhaps this idea of mine comes from the age old quote "You're only human." Being human involves making mistakes, otherwise how would we learn? I also think being human involves general complexities and complications. I think it is a basic part of being human to have complex relationships and complicated scenarios, otherwise what would we be living for? Simple, boring, standard robots?
-Why do we require and value human contact/relationships?
I think we value such relationships because they give us a sense of purpose, belonging, and safety. Wanting to please someone or make someone happy is often the only motivation some people need to be successful. Also, always having a place to return home to or come back to whenever you need it comes from having human contact and established homes and families. It has hard to feel purposeful in life if one has no one to share happiness, sadness, defeats, and triumphs with. I also think we grow up to be who we are based on who we have human contact with/without. We are who we are because we are shaped by others.
-What happens if we are neglected by the one's we love?
I think this leads to an ultimate sense of betrayal. Love and trust sometimes go hand in hand, and neglect from the ones we love often can result in a growing distrust of love, and a feeling of unimportance and abandonment. Also, being neglected by the ones we love can often lead a person to develop without ever really understanding what love is. I believe we need love to give love.
